Fastexy Exchange|Katy Perry Calls New "Woman's World" Song Satire After Facing Criticism

It’s Katy Perry’s world,Fastexy Exchange and those that get it get it.

And those who don’t may have missed the point. After the 39-year-old’s music video for her newest single “Woman’s World” received some criticism from those who felt it to be a dated perspective on feminism, Katy is revealing that was kind of the intention.

In a July 14 Instagram post—which she captioned, “YOU CAN DO ANYTHING! EVEN SATIRE!”—Katy shared a behind-the-scenes clip of the filming process, during which she spoke to the satirical nature of the video.

“We’re kind of just having fun being a bit sarcastic with it,” she explained in the clip, while standing on the video’s construction site set. “It’s very slapstick, and very on the nose.”

In the scene in question, Katy dances alongside a group of women in revealing construction worker-inspired uniforms before she gets crushed by an anvil.

“With this set, it’s like, ‘Oooh, we’re not about the male gaze, but we really are about the male gaze,’ and we’re really overplaying it because I’m about to get smashed,” she explained. “Which is like a reset for my idea of feminine divine. It’s a whole different world after this.”

“Woman’s World” marked Katy’s first release as part of an era of new music she’s been teasing since announcing her departure from American Idol.

And as she’s previously shared, the inspiration for her new music has come from a source very close to home: her and partner Orlando Bloom’s 3-year-old daughter Daisy Dove.

“What she has given me in my life [is] the unconditional love that I was always searching for,” she explained to E! News in April. “Yes, that is where I am creating from. Just like wholeness, happiness and just true full love."

But Daisy isn’t the only one by Katy’s side as she moves on from Idol. Orlando has also gushed over his wife’s work ethic.

"She's crushed it," the Pirates of the Caribbean star told E! News in April of Katy’s time on the competition series. "She's got a vision for things and she genuinely, genuinely loves it. She loves the music, she loves supporting people and she's great with it."

The baby bump photo was one of several sweet snapshots Perry shared on Bloom's birthday. She also posted an old photo of the stars brushing their teeth.

In addition, she looked back at the night they got engaged—Valentine's Day 2019 to be exact.

But that's not all. Perry's birthday tribute also included photos from their travels.

In August 2019, Perry showed support for her beau at the Carnival Row premiere.

"Together our initials are O.K. and that's what it's gonna be ♥️," Perry captioned her sweet screenshot of her and Bloom FaceTiming one another.

In a very relateable video posted to her Instagram, Perry shared that she and Bloom were in bed on New Year's Eve well before the ball dropped writing, "When you're in bed before midnight is when you know you're starting the new year right #2020."

The superstar singer announced her pregnancy in her "Never Worn White" music video in March 2020. The couple welcomed a daughter, Daisy, in Aug. 2020.
