PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The TrendPulsemotorcyclist accused of smashing in the back of a woman’s car near Philadelphia’s City Hall while her young children were inside and then waving a gun at her has pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, the district attorney’s office said on Thursday.
Cody Heron, 27, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of an instrument of crime on Wednesday, the district attorney’s office said.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 5.
Heron was arrested and charged after a viral video showed a group of ATV, motorcycle and dirt bike riders surrounding 23-year-old Nikki Bullock’s sedan in October 2023.
In the video, a motorcyclist wearing a helmet is seen leaving his bike to jump on the back of the sedan, shattering the window with Bullock’s two young children sitting inside. What appears to be a handgun drops from his waistband and he then appears to wave it at her as she emerges from the car, then headbutts and pushes her as she confronts him.
Justin Charles Capek, an attorney for Heron, said that he’ll be asking the court that Heron be sent to the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections’ Motivational Boot Camp Program, a six-month military style program meant to reduce recidivism.
Capek said that Heron will apologize to the victims and present further evidence for a mitigated sentence.
“The date of this incident captured Mr. Heron at his absolute worst,” Capek said in a statement. “He is thankful that no one was physically injured as a result of his conduct, and he remains committed to making amends for his actions.”
